E EUROPE: ICOPAL TO MAKE HUGE INVESTMENTS
Article Abstract:
Icopal, the Danish producer of roofing-felt, is planning to make huge investments in Eastern Europe. In Poland, the company has acquired the roofing-felt group Izolacja, which is very profitable and shows operating margins of 14-16%. In addition, the Polish market grows by 10-15% annually, and MD Hugo Andreasen of Icopal expects Izolacja to grow at least by the same rate as the market in future. Izolacja accounts for one third of Icopal's production of roofing-felt, which totals about 1.5mn sq. metres. Hugo Andreasen says the company's investment plan includes Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In Russia and the Baltic States, Icopal operates through the Finnish company Rovakate, which is 50% owned by Icopal. No direct investments are planned in Russia, as the market is not considered sufficiently stable.
