MANGALORE CHEM Q2 NET PROFIT JUMPS 148%

Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilisers, a part of the UB group, has increased its net profit by 148 percent to Rs4.9 crore on a turnover of Rs155.74 crore in the second quarter of 1998-99. Its turnover has increased by 5.8 percent while gross profit has increased by 77 percent to Rs6.86 crore. The company's turnover has risen to Rs251.8 crore in the first half of 1998-99 against Rs242 crore in the first half of 1997-98 while net profit has increased to Rs1.96 crore from Rs8 lakhs. (khr)

EID PARRY TO HIKE STAKE IN CFL BY 21%
Article Abstract:
EID Parry (India) Ltd (EID), a phosphatic fertilisers producer of the Murugappa group, plans to buy an additional 20.89 percent stake in Coromandel Fertilisers Ltd (CFL). The proposed acquisition will raise the stake of the Murugappa group in CFL to 62.56 percent. The stake will be acquired by paying Rs35.97 per share. The acquisition will not attract the takeover norms of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) as it is is between the promoters. (ag)
