E.ON gets anchored in the Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
E.ON Energie (E.ON) (Germany), power concern, wants to enter the distribution power firm Vychodoceska energetika (VCE) (Czech Republic) in 2000. The entrance should be realized by the purchase of a stake in Vatenfall (Sweden), which is negotiating with E.ON. The acquistion will increase the volume of E.ON's hitherto investments in the Czech Republic. So far E.ON has invested DEM 1.2 bil in stakes in Czech power and gas distribution firms. E.ON cannot exclude that it will try to acquire a stake in the power company CEZ (Czech Republic) in 2001. CEZ has been a business partner of Bayernwerk (Germany), which is a part of E.ON, since 1972.
