EU is planning measures to protect biofuels industry

The European Union is launching import rules requiring foreign companies to demonstrate that their fuels do not harm the environment. The EU is also introducing tariffs on imports of biofuel from the US if the American government fails to drop a tax credit for certain US biofuel exporters. The moves are aimed at protecting Europe's biofuels industry.

EU pacts with Kazakhstan aim to ease reliance on Russia for gas
Article Abstract:
In an attempt to break Russia's monopoly on natural gas imports, the European Union has signed a pact with Kazakhstan. The EU is cooperating with Kazahkstan on construction of a natural gas pipeline, and on nuclear energy.
