EU launches full inquiry of Telia-Telenor merger

The proposed merger between Sweden's Telia AB and Norway's Telenor ASA has come under the scrutiny of the European Commission's antitrust regulators. The merger agreement, which has been valued at up to $47 billion, will be subjected to a four month investigation as the result of insufficient concessions offered by Telia and Telenor. Industry analysts have said that the European Commission regulators will pressure the companies to sell of certain cable television operations.
