EU regulators begin new Microsoft probes

European Commission regulators are investigating unfair competition charges against Microsoft Corp., based on a complaint filed by Norway's Opera Software A/S and the European Committee for Interoperable Systems, a group headed by International Business Machines Corp. and other rivals. The probes are examining whether Microsoft competes unfairly against other browser vendors with Internet Explorer and against office suite vendors by controlling file storage format.
