Testing times for telecoms
Article Abstract:
The success of the privatisation of telecommunications companies in Europe will be largely dependent on the timing of issues and the price levied due to the large number of privatisations anticipated. Investors will have a wide choice and will only be prepared to buy into the right company at the right price. Planned privatisations include the sale of 12% of Telefonica of Spain by the end of 1995, the privatisation of Telia of Sweden in 1996 and of Deutsche Telekom of Germany in May/June 1996.

USA Mobile takeover approaches
Article Abstract:
Arch Communications Group, Paging Network, Airtouch Communications and Mobile Media Communications are all thought to be considering making a takeover bid for USA Mobile Communications Holdings, which has already had to fight off a bid from Metrocall. Analysts believe that USA Mobile executives no longer expect to be able to retain the company's independence, and they will be unable to prevent it being purchased by the highest bidder.
