Article Abstract:
European merger and acquisition transactions in the information technology (IT) industry increased 49% to a record $21.3 billion in 1994 compared to 1993. Consolidation in mature sectors accounts for much of the activity. The information services and software (IS&S) sector had a 13% growth in activity, with deals worth over $4 billion. There were 760 IT transactions in the United States compared with 934 deals in Europe. The IT market is becoming more globalised, with 53% of all deals worth more than $7.5 million attributable to cross-border activity.

US M&A set for boom in 1995
Article Abstract:
Merger and acquisition activity is expected to maintain growth in the United States throughout 1995, with transactions rising 36% by value to $73.7 billion in 1st qtr 1995 compared with 1st qtr 1994. Morgan Stanley was the leading advisor with announced transactions worth $19.1 billion and $18.3 billion of completed transactions. The 1st qtr 1995 period was the most active first quarter since 1989, although activity fell 23% in 1st qtr 1995 compared with 4th qtr 1994.
