Earning as you fly
Article Abstract:
The use of frequent-flyer programs is a marketing strategy employed by airlines to create customer loyalty, particularly from their business traveller customers, and to win the market of their competitions. To participate in this program, individuals just need to avail of the services of an airline or its allies to collect points that are exchangeable for free flights, partner tickets, hotel nights and other goods and services. The three major international airline alliances with operations in and out of Switzerland with frequent flyer programs are Qualiflyer, ioneworldi and Star Alliance.

Staying in the black
Article Abstract:
Switzerland's economic problems in 1995 did not seem to have adversely affected the performance of the country's largest corporations. Despite continued recession and the strengthening of the Swiss franc, only about 40 of the 400 plus companies that disclosed their earnings showed a loss for that year. Based on consolidated turnover, the biggest Swiss corporations in 1995 are found to be Nestle, Metro, ABB Asea Brown Boveri, Glencore International, and Ciba-Geigy.
