Article Abstract:
The recent detention of council speaker Cheng Tai-chi of Pingtung, Taiwan, illustrates how gang violence permeates the city's politics. Cheng has been convicted of vote-buying and is now being held on suspicion of murdering a former friend who was said to be working for a political opponent.

Bridge in space: China and Taiwan to build satellite
Article Abstract:
Taiwan and China are mounting plans for a joint satellite project in Hongkong with funds coming from both countries as well as from Japan and Singapore.
