Ed Annunziato is the head of the European mergers and acquisitions section of Merrill Lynch. He aims for the bank to rank in the top five in Europe for year-end 1996. He is also seeking to develop the bank's advisory activities as well as its capital raising function. The bank ranked ninth for 1994 with eight deals with a total value of more than 2.1 billion pounds sterling. Annunziato sees the UK as a mature market but sees possibiities in mainland Europe.

Merrill Lynch: London's latest dream team?
Article Abstract:
U.S.-based investment bank Merrill Lynch is aiming to become a leading player in the U.K.'s merger and acquisition market. Following its 115 million pounds sterling acquisition of stockbroker Smith New Court, Merrill Lynch plans to rise to the challenge of building a pan-European presence and becoming a top European corporate finance advisor alongside Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan.
