Efficiency of the Swedish pork industry: a farm level study using rotating panel data 1976-1988
Article Abstract:
The stochastic production frontier methodology is used to measure technical efficiency within the Swedish pork industry from 1976-1988. Farm productivity, technical change and bias in technical change is analyzed. These measures are useful to policy makers when considering the size of the agricultural support and the allocation of resources. Results of the study indicate that output elasticities of animal and material inputs increase over time.
