Rumors of a $1.1 billion acquisition of US-based publisher Petersen Cos. by UK-based Emap PLC have been circulating throughout the publishing industry. Both publishing firms have confirmed merger discussions. Both companies' boards of directors reportedly have approved the deal, which would put Emap in a clearly dominant position over rival IPC Magazines.
