Article Abstract:

The World Trade Organization (WTO) is to publish a report on the environmental impact of free trade. The WTO argues that free trade can damage the environment, and this recognition is welcomes by environmental groups. The WTO has ruled against the US on some environmental issues such as a US ban on shrimp imports from countries that use equipment that can harm turtles. Some environmentalists aim to reform the tarde system and are prepared to collaborate with the WTO in order to achieve this.
