Energy, the new convergence
Article Abstract:
A rise in demand for natural gas has led petroleum companies to become involved in this industry, and usage of gas for power generation has led to links with the electricity industry. Energy companies have moved from coal to petroleum to gas and petroleum, and are moving toward electricity and gas. This shift is fostered by power deregulation in the US and Europe. Shell has acquired Intergen, a major independent power company which is expanding in North America in 1999.
