Social exclusion: in what sense a planning problem?
Article Abstract:
The issue of social exclusion has been little discussed in the field of planning, although it is included in other areas, such as education, social policy, health, housing and regeneration. The significance of social exclusion for planning is assessed and five dimensions of exclusion pertinent to planning are identified, including quality of life, low income and involvement in consumption activities, and participation in local decision making. It is suggested that a National Spatial Planning Framework could provide valuable information on a coherent spatial perspective.
