Every little helps when you get a planning consent revocation
Article Abstract:
The 1990 Planning Act allows UK local authorities to revoke or modify planning permission as long as the revocation or modification order is confirmed by the Secretary of State. It is also possible for the Secretary of State to make an order himself. In such a case, the local authority must pay compensation to landowners who have suffered wasted expenditure or loss. It is most unlikely that architects' clients will have their planning permission removed, but there may be circumstances in which architects may decide to warn clients that this could occur.

Legislation alone can't change the building culture that kills
Article Abstract:
A culture of poor standards and low expectations exists in Hong Kong, which makes it almost impossible for well thought-out building regulations to be implemented and increase the quality of building workmanship. The extreme variations of weather make it imperative for buildings to be constructed safely and to a high specified standard, although much of the building work in the city is carried out illegally and under very poor safety conditions.
