Expansion abroad: the new direction for European firms
Article Abstract:
A survey by 'International Management' indicates that European companies have been expanding their international business operations over the past five years, with 50 percent of the respondents saying they are making overt efforts to increase their global involvement and products. Managers are now becoming fluent in foreign languages, attend more conferences abroad, and make increased use of worldwide telecommunications. However, there is not a corresponding increase in the number of foreign nationals at the managerial level. Global business involvement has been hampered by the complex problems of selling abroad and the lack of qualified managers.

PERT and crashing revisited: mathematical generalizations
Article Abstract:
Projects with a finite number of activities are considered, with the total cost of the project a function of its duration. The project life cycle of each component activity is variable, with different activity periods corresponding to different costs. The problem is resolved as a non-linear minimum cost problem, with its number of arcs corresponding to the number of limitations specified if it were solved as a mathematical programming problem with a single linear constraint for each arc.

Costs Soar for Doing Business Abroad
Article Abstract:
A recent survey showed that cost of doing business in twelve selected countries had risen by 165 per cent over last year. This was true whether business was conducted on a travel through basis or by maintaining expatriate staff. Nigeria topped the list. Though inflation is tapering off in some countries it has not affected the cost of doing business in the twelve countries.
