LNG is expensive to produce but can lead to huge profits since the market has grown by 17% each year. LNG is environmentally safe and can be transported long distances, but complex production plants and transport ships costing $250 million have led to limited investments in the industry.

Profits for life: insurance accounting

British life insurers Prudential and BAT have changed accounting methods from the statutory to the accrual system, thereby raising their profit estimates considerably. Profits will be counted when they accrue, an inaccurate process, rather than when the policy matures.

Consumer goods such as food and TV sets are regularly purchased in Greece by Albanians and brought back in trucks. The many Albanians who enter Greece illegally do not cause great resentment, as they provide cheap labor.
