Murder and other violent crimes have increased dramatically in Latin America. El Salvador now has a murder rate of 140 per 100,000, the highest in the world. Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela are also extremely violent. Efforts to control the problem include more police and social services.

Norway may now have a centre-right government, but the government must take a cautious approach towards market-based reforms or privatisation of the public sector. Most Norwegians oppose the idea of natural resources being bought up by foreigners.
