Exporting condom machines too
Article Abstract:
Vulkan (Hradek nad Nisou, Czech Republic), rubber company, plans to raise its sales in 1998. In 1997 the company saw sales of more than 300 mil Kc. The increase is expected due to growing condom sales, mainly exports to Russia and other countries. Demand on the domestic market, on which Vulkan has about an 80% share, has not changed in the past 10 years. The local consumption is 20-25 mil condoms per year, two pieces per head on average, which is comparable with the rest of Europe. Vulkan is able to meet the quality and price demands of the market. The company also develops condom machines and sells them abroad, primarily in countries outside its trade scope. Apart from condoms, Vulkan produces rubber gloves and baby dummies. The company has 460 employees. Nearly 65% of its shares are held by Delta broker (Czech Republic), which is thinking of selling it.
