Non alcoholic and alcoholic beverages in The Netherlands
Article Abstract:
Beer consumption in The Netherlands remained static in 1995, although beer output grew in order to supply the export market, particularly the USA which accounts for 37% of exported Dutch beer. Wine is growing in popularity although it still represents a small market at 15.7 litres per capita. The increase in wine consumption has caused spirits sales to fall. Domestically manufactured soft drinks have gained new sales and the whole of the soft drink market increased 4.4% during 1994-1995. Mineral waters also achieved record sales although this is partly due to the hot summer in 1995.

Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages in France
Article Abstract:
Beverage consumpution in France has declined as a result of the fall in the French economy, although some non-alcoholic beverages such as iced tea are performing well. Wine export volume increased by 5% during 1994 and early 1995 but the increase fell to 2% by Dec 1995 due to foreign opposition to French nuclear testing. Beer sales increased during 1995, particularly in the special beer category. Sales for the alcoholic beverage industry within France are not predicted to improve as the economy struggles and consumers learn more about the health effects of drinking alcohol.
