The Fromageries Rambol introduced Kidiboo, a stick processed soft white cheese shaped like a ghost, and designed for children, on 10 April 2000. This launch will be backed by in-store events. According to IRI-Secodip, the mini-cheese market represented 28,700 tonnes in 1999, up 1% from 1998.

Les Fromageries Bel has introduced slices of processed cheese, which are thicker than the regular slices, under the La Vache Qui Rit brand. The Toastimax slices with cheddar and Emmental are packaged in resealable trays without individual packaging. They are priced at less than FFr 10 for a 14-slice tray (250 grams). It has a seven week use-by period.

FRANCE: SAMOS ROYAL IMPROVES ITS RECIPE

The Samos Royal/SAFR recipe has been improved. It now contains soft white cheese and blue cheese made from sheep's milk and cow's milk, for a fresher, stronger taste. There is new packaging to feature this improvement. The consumer sales price is FFr 12.50 for a box of eight portions.
