Fighting to stay ahead of the pack
Article Abstract:
Industry experts have suggested acquisition prices, in the UK, are full priced and in some cases too high. They point out paying an overinflated price for an asset will not necessary guarantee an equally high price in the future. Some venture capitalists are having to accept reduced returns as deals are not performing as well as previously. The availability of cash for European buyout funds has grown, resulting in increased prices and greater competition in the buyout market. Competition in the UK buyout market has led some UK investors seeking opportunities in the US.

From the cradle to the altar
Article Abstract:
Arthur Andersen Corporate Finance was the main adviser to Eversholt Leasing from the beginning of its 580 million pounds sterling management buyout to the end. Equity returns are beneficially impacted by the efficient execution of a buyout. In management buyouts, the management team and venture capitalists are primarily focused on the exit, unlike the company directors of traditionally financed businesses. Arthur Andersen has been involved in 15 completed deals from the late-1980s to 1997.

The changing face of IBOs
Article Abstract:
IBOs give vendors a quicker, simpler and more profitable way of selling subsidiaries because they do business directly with venture capitalists. However, an IBO requires the venture capitalist to do much more work than for an MBO and they have to have the resources available to back it up. Preferably, these will be available in-house. Cash is the preferable method of financing these deals.
