Beneath the waves and away from the crowd
Article Abstract:
It is possible to organize deals for companies in financial difficulty, and if carried out correctly, will often give good returns. Sufficient funding for the first year of operation is vital and the introduction of a strong management team is also necessary. Any changes to the company should be made quickly to improve results and therefore retain investor confidence. A full evaluation of the business should be prepared by the investment committee. The evaluation can be used in helping decide the price of the company and predict future returns.

Challenges and benefits of German buyouts
Article Abstract:
Many privately owned and managed companies in Germany are now facing a succession problem. Owner-managers are often unwilling to consider selling to a leading local competitor or to a foreign concern looking to boost its presence in Germany. Other options include floating the company, but this will not solve the management succession issue. A further alternative is to sell the company to a financial investor. This approach was used when Alpinvest invested in TTH Thermoplast-Technik Holding.
