Musings on the Millennium: the AJ/Bovis discourse provided a rare opportunity to discuss the question of what constitutes a Millennium project

Stephen Dorrell continues to be chairman of the Millennium Commission and at the AJ/Bovis discourse he contributed to the discussion on the elusive nature of the millennium project. Threee themes of the Millenium have emerged, including the reinforcing the environment and improving access, social provision such as the creation of meeting places, and science to achieve socal objectives.

Ministers are soon to decide on the future of the Building Research Establishment. Privatisation options include an out and out sale, with interested parties including WS Atkins and Pell Frischmann. Another option would be contractualisation involving operation by a private firm whose key assets remain in public ownership.
