Article Abstract:
Singapore's political system and its fiscal strategy is interlinked and the country that prides itself as a low-tax country actually over taxes its citizens while spending less on their welfare with surplus funds ending up improving the ruling party's coffers. The ruling party benefits at the cost of the private sector, which is reeling under severe international competition thus leading to slower economic growth and lack of changes in the fiscal policy.
