The UK Labour Party is likely to regain power in the upcoming election. This will be in large part because the party has learned how to mobilize the party faithful without becoming too indebted to labor unions or other vested interests. Blair's careful stewardship of his party is analyzed.

The Labor Party in the UK won the 1997 elections in a landslide, at least in part because of Prime Minister Tony Blair's pledge to keep campaign promises. The Labor Party must first of all govern wisely and well, and it must also keep its promises if it hopes to be reelected.
