France Telecom stays on top of the game
Article Abstract:
Since the deregulation of the French telecommunications market in 1998, France Telecom SA has only seen 3% of its domestic market disappear. The company posted 3.5% revenue growth to 77.9 billion francs ($13.78 billion) during the first half of 1998. France Telecom began cutting long-distance rates, expanding into new businesses, and growing beyond its home base before the deregulation began. These moves were an attempt to protect France Telecom's dominant market share. They have succeeded in maintaining the company's dominant presence in France's telecommunications market.
