Frank Lloyd
Article Abstract:
Frank Lloyd was an art dealer who set up his first gallery in 1946 when there was little art available in terms of older great paintings. Lloyd was able to market modern art which was in greater supply than older works. Lloyd lost a legal case in relation to the painter Mark Rothko and had to pay a fine, but his gallery's success was not affected. His Marlborough gallery has expanded abroad, and has become the biggest art business world wide.
