The Himalayas' open skies
Article Abstract:
Nepal has seen a rise in the number of airlines offering a domestic service since economic liberalization was introduced in 1992. Road building is not always possible due to difficult terrain, and air transportation is needed for a wide range of goods as well as for passengers. Necon Air is one new company which has prospered, but others have been less fortunate and have financial problems. The government controls levels of fares and the political situation is unstable, which could affect the future of airlines.
