French Army prioritizes programs; land forces procurement is a two-pronged integrated process
Article Abstract:
Two complementary organizations handle the procurement of equipment for the French land forces. Operational coherence or validity is assured by a coordination officer from the Etat-major des Armees (EMA)joint services staff and by officers from one of the three services for the three remaining areas. The Etat-Major de l'Armee de Terre army staff is concerned with the management of the air-land environment. For other services are represented by deputy staff officers when they are not involved as coherence or operational consistency officers.

Weapons boost for New Zealand Army
Article Abstract:
The New Zealand Army has procured new weapons that will enhance the firepower of selected infantry and special forces units. Among them are 24 FN Herstal M3 12.7-mm heavy machine guns, which have the capability to engage targets beyond 1500m. The Army is also looking for a weapon that can provide effective fire to targets at a minimum range of 2,300m during night and day and in any weather condition. The weapon should deliver accurate fire not only from a ground-mounted tripod but from a vehicle as well.

New Zealand changes course on programs
Article Abstract:
The government of New Zealand has amended several key defense equipment and capability procurement initiatives. One of the changes is the cacellation of an option for a third ANZAC-class frigate. The lease of 28 Lockheed Martin F-16A/B strike fighter aircraft is also likely to be abandoned. Instead of this, the Royal New Zealand Air Force will upgrade is A-4K Skyhawk fleet.
