French lessons
Article Abstract:
Cuba is developing new varieties of tobacco at its research stations, helped by Habanos SA, which exports cigars and which has a crop finance arrangement with Seita and Tabacalera. Exports have increased, as has the number of Cuban cigar factories, and there is concern that rolling standards may be falling. Rolling and color sorting are skilled tasks. The industry is also affected by counterfeits, some of which are produced in Cuba. The Cuban industry has to tackle the issue of quality control and retain some of the skills of the hand rollers.
