Frontal assault: Khmer Rouge caught between military, political pincers
Article Abstract:
Cambodia's interim government is taking a harsher stance toward the Khmer Rouge and is backing up its tougher attitude by pressing the current military campaign against the guerrilla organization. Hun Sen, co-leader of the government with Prince Norodom Ranariddh, indicated on Aug 29, 1993 that the Khmer Rouge will be denied any role in Cambodia's newly emerging polity unless it gives up the parts of the country it occupies and agrees to unify its military forces with the government's. Government forces have defeated the Khmer Rouge in Banteay Meanchey, Kompong Thom and Siem Reap provinces.

Next generation: Khmer Rouge put on a new face
Article Abstract:
The Khmer Rouge's new military chief of staff Gn. Im Nguon, plans to open the headquarters of Anlong Veng to foreigners, following the purge of Pol Pot. The movement's reasons for opening up are to build alliances for its crusade against Cambodian Premier Hun Sen and the vietnamese aggressors. Im Nguon has admitted that crimes were committed during the Khmer Rouge's rule of Cambodia, although this is blamed on individuals. The new National Solidary Party, as the movement is now known, is keen to participate in democratic elections, once Hun Sen is driven out.

Joy ride
Article Abstract:
Malaysia has rapidly become Cambodia's chief business partner and source of capital in an environment still rife with corruption and uncertainty. The largest approved project is the Naga Island resort, backed by Ariston and planned to cost $1.3 billion, or half of Cambodia's gross domestic product. Other recent projects include the launch of Royal Air Cambodge, shortly after Cambodia International Air was ordered to cease operations for unclear reasons. The Cambodian Development Council is still routinely bypassed.
