Italians consumed about 10 kgms of frozen foods per capita in 1998, compared to a European average of 27.4 kgms. The market is growing, especially for fish. Figures are supplied for frozen foods including ice cream, frozen fruits and vegetables, and prepared pasta dishes.

Article Abstract:
Spanish exports of frozen foods exceed imports except for potato products and seafood. Large companies such as Unilever and Nestle are outsourcing basic production. Exports of frozen vegetables and ice cream rose in 1999, but exports of frozen fish and seafood fell.

Frozen fish is the largest category in the UK frozen foods market. Demand is increasing for frozen potato products and frozen ready meals. Sales of ice cream increased in 1999, but remained flat in 2000.
