Fuzzy logic concepts applied to machine-component matrix formation in cellular manufacturing
Article Abstract:
A non-binary machine component matrix is proposed wherein each entry indicates the suitability of a machine to process a part. Fuzzy logic concepts are used to consider the interaction between the part features and the importance of certain part features. Conventional cell formation procedures assume that each part feature is developed on a single machine. Alternate machines are suitable for developing the same part feature.

Ratio combinatorial programs
Article Abstract:
A ratio combinatorial program refers to a combinatorial optimization problem characterized by an objective function and linear limits. The problem can be solved by using the I-M algorithm. The algorithm applies general iterative techniques and produces finite solutions for the fractional knapsack problem. I-M exhibits analogous similarities with the Newton's method for solving equations.
