GACL TO SET UP 1-M T CEMENT PLANT IN LANKA
Article Abstract:
Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd (GACL) is putting up a one million tonne cement unit in Sri Lanka with an investment of Rs212.5 crore. The first phase of 0.50 million tonnes will be completed by September 2000 with an investment of Rs100 crore while the second phase will be completed by 2003 or 2004. The cement will be sold under the Ambuja Cement brand name while the company set up in Sri Lanka will be called Midigama Cements. GACL currently sells 0.50 million tonnes of cement in Sri Lanka through Marine Cements. GACL will become the first Indian company to set up a greenfield project outside India. (khr)

CADD CENTRE TIES UP WITH CEYLINCO OF SRI LANKA

Cadd Centre India Pvt Ltd of Chennai has entered into an alliance with the Ceylinco group of Sri Lanka. Ceylinco Networking Technologies Ltd will market and support the products like plotters, scanners, software and services of Cadd Centre. It has started an exclusive training centre in Sri Lanka which would be promoted under the brand name Cadd Centre. Cadd Centre plans to set up a network in 30 countries and increase its turnover from Rs16 crore now to Rs100 crore by 2001 AD. (khr)

TCS TIES UP WITH TURKEY'S BILPA

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a software consultancy company, and Bilpa of Turkey have entered into a strategic joint venture agreement. Bilpa is the information technology division of Yapi Kredit Bank of Turkey. The collaboration will enable TCS to enter the market in Turkey. Initially, TCS will be executing a Y2K project for Bilpa.
