McDONALD'S TO WIND UP 100% INDIAN ARM
Article Abstract:
The US fast food chain McDonald's will close up its 100 percent subsidiary McDonald's India Pvt Ltd in April 1999. McDonald's India Pvt Ltd owns 50 percent stakes in two Indian Rs50-crore joint ventures - Connaught Plaza Pvt Ltd in Delhi and Hardcastle Restaurant Pvt Ltd in Mumbai. The stakes, operations and manpower of the subsidiary would be transferred to the joint ventures. There are no expansion plans by McDonald's at present in India. The company has set up 14 restaurants in India. In countries other than India, China and West Asian countries, McDonald's had only joint ventures. It has served a clientele of 10 million till today in India and plans to maintain the same value driven commitment to quality in the Indian fast food market. (nr)

AUTODESK SETS UP INDIAN UNIT
Article Abstract:
Autodesk, a global personal computer (PC) software company, will set up a wholly owned subsidiary in India at Bangalore. The company has planned to invest $20-25 million for Indian operations in the next five years. Autodesk will also be setting up a developer consulting group division in India at Bangalore, which provides advanced support on Autodesk products. The company's sales strategy in India remains the same, but intends to focus on software development projects by increasing the co-ordination with software companies in the country. (um)(psr)
