GB lance Ready Store sur le Net
Article Abstract:
Ready, the Belgian retail subsidiary of the GB group, is going to launch Ready Store, an Internet supermarket, in Brussels and the Brussels suburbs. This store offers 3,400 products which can be ordered 24 hours a day. The purchase is then available in one of the 7 Ready Point refrigerated lorries, which are open from 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm from Monday to Friday. The prices of the products are those available in GB stores during the period when this service is launched. Then customers must pay BFr 110 and an amount equal to 3% of their order. This system will be perfected after two or three years of service, and the concept may be extended to other Belgian cities such as Antwerp, Louvain, and Li ge.

In 1996, the number of accidents in the workplace in Belgium fell to 210,577 from 222,927 in 1995. The number of accidents leading to temporary incapacity fell from 115,623 to 106,000. The amount of damage caused by these accidents was stable at BFr 35bn, the average cost per accident being BFr 167,000. A rise in the number of certain work-related illnesses was noted, including asbestos-linked respiratory illnesses and muscular-skeletal complaints. The number of accidents occurring on the way to work rose to 17,802 compared to 17,280 in 1995. The average cost of each accident was BFr 359,500.
