GDF signs long-term deal with Gazprom

Gaz de France has signed a deal with OAO Gazprom of Russia for gas supplies to Europe until 2030. Russia supplies approximately 44 percent of gas requirements to Europe per year. There is an underlying tug-of-war over gas prices, with Russia seeking a higher asking price than $46.68 per thousand cubic meters for 2007.

Lukoil's profit climbs 8.4% on rise in sales, crude prices
Article Abstract:
Second-quarter net profit for OAO Lukoil increased by 8.4% to reach $2.52 bil, with revenue increasing 9.9% to reach $20.2 bil. However, higher operating expenses offset these figures slightly. Production rose 1.4% to 1.9 mil barrels per day. Lukoil is the largest nongovernment-owned oil firm in Russia by volume.

Russia's Gazprom fires its leader of oil expansion
Article Abstract:
OAO Gazprom's deputy CEO Alexander Ryazanov has been dismissed, with no reason being given, and Valery Golubev has been appointed in his place. Mr. Ryazanov was in charge of oil producer Gazprom Neft (formerly Sibneft), which had been performing poorly since he took over.
