Fading memories
Article Abstract:
The decline in memory associated with middle age is attributable to the impairment of working memory, which stores complex information, while other parts of the brain process data. The decline in working memory does not necessarily mean that the more valuable forms of memory are also affected by age. Approaches that may be used to improve working memory ability include: giving more time for information to sink in, reinforcing the information by responding to it, and using mnemonic techniques. Evidence suggests that such strategies can render the problem of memory loss virtually insignificant.

A clean bill of health for coffee
Article Abstract:
Studies during the 1980s suggested that drinking coffee could contribute to heart disease. However, the findings about coffee are being reviewed, and current conclusions indicate that there is little consistent evidence that indicates a connection between drinking coffee and coronary heart disease.
