GIC ENGAGES TAAL FOR SERVICING SMALL AIRCRAFT

General Insurance Corporation (GIC) has entered into an alliance with Taneja Aerospace and Aviation Ltd (TAAL) for providing aviation insurance service for small aircraft. Under the agreement, GIC will offer 50 percent discount on insurance service provided for small aircraft. TAAL is engaged in repairing service of most of the small aircraft in the country and the insurance service will contribute a significant revenue for the company. (gs)

India's first private aircraft manufacturing company, Taneja Aerospace and Aviation Ltd (TAAL) posted an operating profit of Rs42.32 lakh in 1997-98 against a loss of Rs60.49 lakh in 1996- 97. The turnover rose by 282 percent to Rs869.14 lakh (Rs308.74 lakh in 1996-97). The company has accumulated losses of Rs234 lakh. The net worth of the company has come down to Rs916 lakh. TAAL sold three P68 five-seater aircraft costing Rs2 crore per unit during 1997-98. (gsh)
