Gambro gets a $4.85 billion bid from a Nordic investment group

Investor AB of Sweden has offered a bid of 38.26 billion Swedish Kronor ($4.85 billion) for Gambro AB also of Sweden. The medical equipment interest focuses on renal care. Gambro AB was recently cited by the United States Food and Drug Administration over quality control systems at an Italian plant.

Gambro pretax profit rose 19% in half
Article Abstract:
Gambro AB reported an improvement of 19% in its pretax profits for the first six months ending on June 30, 1999. Gambro, a Swedish-based medical technology firm, also stated that its operating margins were seeing continuing growth. The company posted 1.58 billion kronor (181.3 million euros) for the first-half. The figures coincided for the most part, with what analysts had predicted.
