Game on in the software sector
Article Abstract:
The entertainment and education software market is very competitive. To remain in business smaller companies need to find a specialized market, look for new markets or join with other companies. Many have chosen to consolidate to give them access to a wider market. Mergers and acquisitions in the education and entertainment software market have increased to a value of $5.9 billion in 1998, from 1.4 billion in 1997. Some observers suggest by the 2002 there will be five major publishers of console games and three-four major PC publishers.
