German sensor unit rides the waves
Article Abstract:
The STN Atlas Elektronik MSP 500 modular sensor platform has been successfully tested by the German Navy. The MSP 500 was installed aboard a Type 143A fast patrol boat and integrated with the ship's Otobreda 76mm main gun. The gun was able to score 100% hits during the first salvo from a range of 8,000 m when firing at a 16 x 4m surface target. During aerial targets, the gun was able to attain results better than what it would achieve with the standard WM 27 fire-control radar system.
