Germany's eastward urge

Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic are largely dependent on Germany for trade, investment and political support. Hard financial times caused by the integration of East Germany cause some popular resistance to sponsoring new allies. The trio's plans to join Nato and the European Union are discussed.
