Global sales of chips rose 9.2% in January

Sales of semiconductor chips increeased by 9.2 percent at the beginning of 2007 totaling $21.47 billion up from $19.66 billion last year. The international market was driven by sales in Asia and Europe and a 72 percent surge in DRAM or dynamic random access memory semiconductor chips worth $3.6 billion.
