Go Forth and Multiply
Article Abstract:
Metacraft's FORTH is a language system available for use on the Apple II or IIe. The system features an editor, compiler, assembler, decoder, debugger, documenter, a copy utility and disk formatter. When compared with other programming languages, FORTH is very fast. This is accomplished through the use of overlays, which allows code to be kept in its compiled form, and then loaded into memory, rather than recompiled each time. A chart showing comparison rates to other languages in speed, plus screen displays and sample program listings are included.
