Governor quits in protest
Article Abstract:
Taiwan's provincial governor, James Soong, has resigned from his post in protest of plans to end the provincial government. Critics believe that Soong's resignation is simply a political tactic to ensure his control over the island. However, it will have no impact since the Koumintang and the Democratic Progressive Party have already agreed that it would be better for Taiwan to become a province of China than to become an independent nation. The National Assembly, however, has yet to comment on the issue.
