Graz is on front line of DaimlerChrysler merger
Article Abstract:
DaimlerChrysler AG has chosen the factory in Graz, Austria for its first joint assembly line. The factory will make the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, which it has been making for some time. Additionally, the factory will make the MercedesBenz M class SUV. The challenge in constructing these vehicles is that neither share many features. To accommodate the resulting different construction requirements, the factory has been redesigned. Work ares are color coded, woth blue for Mercedes, green for Jeep, and gray for areas that can produce material useable on both SUVs.
